At the December 8 2022 Statement Meeting, Brother Walt Hebert was the latest member of San Gabriel #89 to complete his application for this program.
San Gabriel Lodge again this year participated in this program created by Masonic Children & Family Services of Texas. (MCFS) The program was developed many years ago to help children and parents learn to prevent painful dental problems and avoid expensive treatment. The kit includes a 2-minute timer to help the children remember to brush the full time.
Each participating lodge is supplied with 300 free kites by the MCFS to assemble and deliver to the schools of their choice. Kits are available for first graders only.
Brother Vern Shankle and PM David Yeager with help from Brother Yeager’s wife and daughter assembled 270 kits to be distributed to three elementary schools.
PM David Yeager delivered 168 kits to Igo Elementary School in Jarrell, TX and November 28, 2022. Accepting on behalf of Igo Elementary was the school nurse, Heather Olson. The first graders will be given their kits on Monday, December 12, 2022, during which San Gabriel Lodge was invited to attend.
Brother Vern Shankle delivered 84 kits to Raye McCoy Elementary School in Georgetown, TX and November 18, 2022. Accepting on behalf of Raye McCoy Elementary was the school nurse, Lindsay Vineyard.
Brother Vern Shankle delivered 100 kits to Delco Elementary School in Pflugerville, TX and November 18, 2022. Accepting on behalf of Delco Elementary was the school nurse, Erica Fleming.
This program has been very beneficial over the years by supplying 1,275,524 kits in 1743 schools in the State of Texas.
